Unlacquered Brass is simply untreated brass without any coating whatsoever so these handles will naturally dull down and age over time, also known as 'living brass'.
The appearance will give way to a beautiful aged finish, often referred to as patina. 
 
If you want to bring them back to their original colour simply polish them with a brass polish such as Brasso or similar
